Manual Lymphatic Drainage
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a gentle form of massage therapy that helps your lymphatic system flow in a healthy way. This is helpful for swelling (edema), including chronis and acute conditions. The work is particularly useful after a surgery or an injury – and some people find that lymphatic work is a useful way to keep their immune system operating at its best, or to clear toxins from their system.
The work is generally done directly on the skin, without any lotions or oils. We might take a regional or a full-body approach. First, we clear the key areas that stimulate lymphatic flow by creating a draw, and then we work through the rest of the body, or the rest of the area.
Although the approach is highly scientific, most people find the work surprisingly relaxing.
